Juan Carlos del Castillo, CEO
He was Director of Finance and Administration for the CNB-CSIC in Madrid. He has an outstanding record in managing resources for science, particularly in the area of biotechnology. He also has participated in the foundation of two other biotechnology companies, Bionostra and Microbionta.
Ramón Alonso-Allende Erhardt - Deputy General Manager
He is a bioinformatician with a background on Pharmacy. He worked in a CRO where he coordinated several clinical trials and developed clinical data management tools. At the CNB-CSIC where he worked for four years, he researched on molecular biology databases and data integration. Ramón obtained his MBA degree while working at bioalma.
Christian Blaschke, PhD –Scientific Director
He is a bioinformatician with a background in Molecular Biology. At the CNB-CSIC he worked on text analysis and information extraction. Christian is the Principal Investigator for two of bioalma’s EU collaborative research projects, and was a co-organizer of BioCreAtIvE prior to joining bioalma.
Founders
Alfonso Valencia, PhD, Prof.
Director of the Structural Biology and Biocomputing Program at the Nacional Center for Cancer Research (CNIO).
Dr. Valencia is Director of the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB) and vice-president of the International Society for Computational Biology. Over the last several years he has participated in numerous international projects. He also leads a large group of bioinformaticians working on various aspects of protein analysis.
Roderic Guigó, PhD.
Affiliated with the Municipal Institute for Medical Research (IMIM) in Barcelona, Spain, an IMAS center, Dr. Guigó leads the Genome Informatics Laboratory within the Biomedical Informatics Research Group. In gene prediction he has developed very sensitive methods. Some of the programs developed by his group were used to analyze and annotate the first draft sequence of the Human Genome.
Joaquín Dopazo, PhD.
Head of the Bioinformatics Unit, Príncipe Felipe Research Center in Valencia, Spain. Dr. Dopazo has both academic (molecular evolution) and industry experience at GSK. His research is primarily focused on the development of methods and tools for expression array analysis.
