The new version still allows users to uncover bioentity relationships that exist in over 8 million PubMed abstracts, but it now includes chemical information for millions of compounds and links to external databases such as PubChem. Additional functionality includes new internet subscription access, query alerts via e-mail, new export options, additional search options, new trend analyses, and enhanced graphical information.

Bioalma (Madrid, Spain), announce that Siena Biotech S.p.A. (http://www.sienabiotech.com) has extended its license of AKS2 (almaKnowledgeServer™). AKS2 has provided Siena Biotech a way to rapidly explore not only disease, gene, and compound topics found in published literature but also drug, symptom, and biomedical relationships as well. Siena Biotech will use the knowledge mining system to explore results obtained with their comprehensive proteomics platform.

 EMBL and bioalma Sign Agreement to License almaKnowledgeServer (AKS) as Part of Joint Research Project

The basic terms of the agreement allow researchers based at EMBL as well as those based at outstations located in Germany, United Kingdom, Italy and France to have access to the system.

The aim of Reinhard Schneiders group at the EMBL is to capture and centralize the knowledge generated by the scientists in the several divisions, and to organize that knowledge in such a way that it is easily mined, browsed and navigated.

By providing access to all scientists in the organization, it will foster collaboration between researchers in different cross functional groups.bioalma and Reinhard Schneiders group will overcome current limitations of text mining algorithms to detect information related to chemicals and drugs from scientific text and to integrate this information in the databases used by researchers at the EMBL.
